Nine days have passed since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began.

Nine days of a horrible conflict that is causing a great deal of pain to the innocent people of Ukraine. Those forced to hide in shelters without electricity or water with their children. In the kind of winter that not many of us are prepared for, even when everything is normal.

Almost an entire city is now without drinking water, and food supplies are scarce. Can you imagine being in that situation?

Can you imagine having to leave your children with strangers to be escorted out of the country? Not being able to tell them that everything will be okay and that you will safely return home or even see them again?

Can you imagine being the father of a 20-year-old, wealthy professional, who properly planned and left the chaos of Kyiv on time, only to register with the military and then wait for a call?

Can you imagine a 24-year-old traveling to Europe for pleasure and not being able to return home, having to move to a city where she cannot even speak the language, who just joined her employer a few weeks ago and now living as a guest with them.

Can you imagine being a US Citizen living and working in Ukraine and having to leave your partner and family in law to move to Poland and now being stuck in the endless attempt to reunite with them?

We are not just imagining these stories, we are living them through the eyes of our #advantioers and their #AdvantioStoriesFromUkraine. Stories about people with a support network inside and outside their country, and as such are among the fortunate.

The real question is what is happening to the rest?

How many businesses will be able to pay their employees' salaries or even support them above and beyond that? How many will have to drop the ball at some point? We certainly do not want to be that business.

Here at Advantio, it has been a crazy nine days, and we were more busy doing things for our colleagues than talking about it. Amongst other things, for example, we rented houses in Vilnius (LT) and Naples (IT) that are ready to accommodate our colleagues and welcome them into our local communities to make sure they are not alone.

Unfortunately, our male colleagues cannot leave the country due to martial law, and our female colleagues are unable to leave their husbands behind either. Honesty, they don’t want to either! They want to be there and fight for their lives and the lives of their loved ones. We must support them from here. Only a few #advantioers have reached those destinations so far. The rest are in Ukraine and, believe it or not, they are working!

We will share #AdvantioStoriesFromUkraine in the coming days as #WeStandWithUkraine.

Many of you have reached out to see how you can help our colleagues. For now, I ask you to stay tuned, listen to our stories, and share them with as many people as you can.

Now more than ever, every business needs protection in order to increase their cyber resilience, and our Managed Detection and Response service is the right solution. Our entire gross profit will be put towards directly helping our Ukrainian colleagues and their families - and if we can, we will also support the larger cyber community in Ukraine.

I am the Founder of Advantio.
Technology has been my passion since I was a kid; when I first heard the handshake of an old 300bps modem I realised security would be key in an interconnected world. Since then it has become my passion and primary focus.
The reason why I've started my own business is to make IT Security simple.
