According to a press release from the Central European Bank, published on September 2014, the number of card-present transactions completed through card-reading devices and terminals is constantly growing.

The number of credit transfers within the EU increased in 2013 by 3.6% to 26.5 billion. The importance of paper-based transactions continued to decrease...

...and more

The number of cards with a payment function in the EU increased in 2013 by 3.0% to 760 million. With a total EU population of approximately 508 million, this represented around 1.5 payment cards per EU inhabitant.

It is extremely important for Merchants, Cashiers and Employees in general to keep PoS (Point-of-Sale devices), PEDs (PIN Entry Device), standalone dial-out terminals and any other type of payment card-reading device or terminal constantly safe.

In order to do that, you need to follow the guidelines from PCI DSS Requirement 9.9 and manually check each one of your devices, track their status and share it with your MPA (Merchant Portfolio Authority).

Or, you can susbscribe to a cost-effective and easy-to-use solution built to help anyone who uses card-reading devices and terminals to monitor their physical security.
